Hunter Education

State Certified Hunter Safety Classes

Washington state requires all hunters born after 1971 to take and pass a Hunter Education class before they can get a hunting license. Many states require the completion of a Hunter Education class before they will issue an "out-of-state" hunting license to any non-resident.

We hold 6 to 8 classes each year. Our classes are four days long; usually a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM and a Saturday morning from 8 AM to 2PM.

Our core group of classes run almost every week from mid July to the end of August, just before hunting season. We usually have a clean up class at Thanksgiving for those who have missed all the other classes during the year. The entire schedule for the year for all classes in the state can be found at the State Wildlife Department's web site .

For the Kenmore Range (WCW) classes we charge a pre-registration fee of $10.00 per student and require
in-person sign up at the Range Office. Classes are limited to 35 students and tend to fill rapidly. There is a 100 page student manual which should be read prior to class. Parents are required to accompany pre-teens and attend the class so as to reinforce the lessons learned.
